The Importance of Quality Control

Quality control is a priority for us at Coidan Graphite. The components and parts we machine are often critical elements of our customers’ production process. They need to be able to rely on the orders we complete for them.

Our Quality Control checks sometimes mean we need to machine more parts than ordered, as we need to destroy a part to ensure that it has been machined correctly.

A good example of this is the component in the photo, cutting the piece in half reveals more information that isn’t obvious without destructive inspection. This part showed the “chatter” on the surface and vibration of the tooling was unacceptable – so despite the part measuring fine – the tooling was changed to improve the internal surface finish.

Obviously, we can’t cut every piece in half so we base the frequency of the internal tube checks of these components on the longevity of the tooling and the level of tolerance needed by the customer.

Our approach to quality control is one of the reasons why the majority of our customers come back to us again and again.
