Amongst other things, our graphite parts are used for nozzle throats and chokes in both missiles and rockets, and plays a key part in assisting them in their accuracy.
Why is graphite used?
Graphite is the ideal material for defence purposes thanks to a number of its unique properties:
- It has the ability to withstand very high temperatures, with a high melting point
- It’s stable at these high temperatures
- It’s lightweight and easy to machine
- It’s corrosion-resistant
